Have you been looking at your yard and wondering what you can do to make your space really beautiful. Before you grab the phonebook and look at the landscapers section, consider doing a few things yourself.
You might find that you have a knack for nurturing plants. Some people also find it rewarding to create their own landscaping design as opposed to turning the job over to a company. Some tips to get you started are:
- Get advice: This is easier than you think. You could get useful information from your local garden store or online. This can be anything from best soil types to the easiest plants and shrubs to care for.
- Create a plan: You should never start your project without this. This plan will guide all your buying decisions, plus, it will be so much easier to take your project in stages. Feel free to make alterations to your landscaping design as you go along.
- Make a list: This should include plants you are considering as well as the various tools you will need. You might want friends or family members to help you.
Balancing Budget and Beauty
Your buying options will include plant nurseries and fully stocked garden stores, both brick and mortar and online. Decide early on which you will use. If you are on a tight budget you simply have to go where the deals are.
Use pegs and cord to mark out your design areas. This will make your plan easy to follow and allow you to make adjustments. Don’t feel disheartened if your landscaping efforts don’t immediately show signs of promise. Give the plants time to grow and bloom and you will have a yard worth showing off.
